New Video iPod scrambles file names

I was playing with my new iPod today, looking for where it stores the videos and I noticed this:





looks like further measures by Apple to restrict the use of our devices, and our content. Thanks Apple!

Oh, btw, I plugged in my old iPod photo, just to see if it did the same then, but I did not. This seems like something new to this version of the iPod. Anyone know if its the same on the nano?

Well I got one of the new iPods. I took some pics to compair with the previous version iPod.



Both have 30gb of storage, but look how much thinner the new one is:

It doesn't come with a black dock, nor is one avaliable from Apple, so I painted my old one:



Video playback really kills the battery on it. I watched about 22 minutes of video last night and then listened to some music for about 10 minutes. I started with a fresh charge, and after that the battery indicator was in the red. I am going to se how long it lasts on video alone today. Apple claims up to 2 hours of video playback, but have read that some people are getting up to 2.5 hours. It certianly makes sence that video playback will limit battery life as opposed to music playback. The screen backlight has to be on the whole time, and the lcd screen is the biggest use of power on the device.

I also am having some considerable trouble with album art, as are a number of other owners. Sometimes it just does not want to display in the iPod. I had to remove and read songs in order to get it to work. Seems like iTunes 6 is also doing some funny things with the album art in my music library too, so the problem could be iTunes 6.

Wow, well I suppose it't time for me to catch on the the blog craze. With www.blogger.com i can create/modity/manage my blog without having to create a page from scratch, which is what I was going to do. I can also host the blog with my own web hosting, hence the designbydave.net/blog address. If i have the time I will probably mess around with the page template a bit, but for now it's ok.
